Митчель, Уэйр (Weir Mitchel) — американский врач; род. в 1831 г.; профессор в Филадельфии, известный своей системой лечения нервнобольных усиленным питанием (так называемая Митчель-Плейферовская система лечения, см. Неврастения). М. написал: "Diseases and injuries of nerves", "Lectures of nervous maladies of women", "Fat and blood; an essay a n the treatment of certains form of neurastenia and hysteria" (1877; 4-е изд., 1885).
